Safe Haven Cat Rescue believes that all animals deserve a safe, loving home. We always take our cats back at any point. We understand that sometimes adoptions don't work out and we want the cats and the humans to all be happy.
We will work with you to find the perfect match. We think that the cats pick you as much (or more) then you pick them.
Safe Haven does not believe in declawing cats under any circumstance. We will not adopt to you if you intend to get the cat declawed. We sometimes get declawed cats in to the rescue and will be happy to match you to one.
Our cats live in foster homes like regular housecats until they are available for adoption. We make every effort possible to have happy, healthy, well socialized cats and kittens. Many of our foster homes have children, other cats, dogs etc. This means that our cats are exposed to a variety of different things which makes them more well rounded.
We like to say that we specialize in "boneless cats" what this means is a cat that enjoys being held and just melts in your arms like they were boneless. It means a really cuddly, snuggly kitty. We get many people who comment that they had no idea that cats could be like this and they are amazed.
Our Adoption Donation to adopt a cat or kitten is $75.00 this includes:
spay/neuter before adoption. Safe Haven NEVER adopts out unfixed cats.....ever.
Aids/Feline Leukemia Test
Distemper Vaccine(s)
Rabies Vaccine
30 day flea treatment such as Advantage or Frontline
Ear Mite Treatment(s) If needed
DeWorming(s)
Call your local vet and price these services and you will see that you could get maybe two vaccines and an office visit for our adoption donation cost.
We only feed our cats high quality foods. Which we believe makes our cats healthier.
When you adopt a cat from us you must sign an Adoption Contract which includes the following:
I agree that the cat is being adopted for myself and will not be sold, or given to another party.
I agree to care for the cat in a humane and kind manner and be a responsible animal guardian. This includes supplying adequate food, water, shelter, attention and medical care. Safe Haven does not support Declawing a cat. We are more than happy to show you how to trim your cats nails. Please read the Declawing fact sheet that is in your adoption packet.
I agree that if at any point I can not keep the cat I will return it to Safe Haven Cat Rescue
(609) 978-4330. Safe Haven is a No Kill Cat Rescue.
I understand and agree that Safe Haven Cat Rescue makes no guarantees about the cat’s temperament and is not responsible for damages or injuries caused by the cat.
Most cats come into Safe Haven with an unknown health/medical history. Safe Haven does not adopt out cats that are known to be sick, without informing the adopter of any health concerns. The health record provided at the time of adoption details all the Vaccinations and other health care, which the cat has received. Vaccinations, flea & worming medicine, etc. may take several days to several weeks, or several applications to be fully effective. Safe Haven strongly encourages you to take your new cat to your veterinarian for a thorough checkup within 7 days of adoption. Safe Haven will not be responsible for any cost of treatment or care due to illness.
Adopting A Pet Is A Long-term Commitment
Sorry, all donations are non refundable
You will also get a health form outlining the vaccines and health care that your cat has received.
We always strongly advise that you bring your cat to your veterinarian for a checkup after adoption.
Safe Haven Cat Rescue uses Barnegat Animal Clinic as their veterinary clinic.
This is in our opinion the best Veterinary clinic in the area. The staff is always friendly and it never matters which vet we see since we have seen them all and they
are all top notch. They have taken excellent care of our rescue cats (and personal animals) for over 5 years.
